Under the current feature set fro @Task, every user gets an individual billing rate set as a default (under User Management). It is not uncommon for our company (or companies in general) to specify different billing rates for the same individuals depending on the project they are assigned to. With the exception of fixed-price project contracts, our agreed billing rates can vary according to customer.
The feature of specifying individualized billing rates according to project should be allowed as an option when assigning individuals within a project team. So at the time the individual is assigned to the project, we could alter the (default) billing rate - if we so choose. And the new billing rate is linked to the individual no matter which task within the particular project he/she is allocated. In summary the relationship is: specific project <- individual team member <- specific or default billing rate.
As a suggestion, this could be achieved in a similar fashion to how tasks are assigned charge-out rates within 'Task -> Resource' under "Revenue Type" with an option box for the PM to specify a 'Billing Amount'. When it comes time to specify how the task is billed under such a set-up, 'Revenue Type' is set to 'User Hourly' (as it works at present) and the proposed feature picks up that the individual now has a non-default billing rate set and uses that value for revenue calculation.
Do not hesitate to contact me if further discussion is required.
